Driftwood Lye

for the treatment of oak wood – in white and grey

The Driftwood Lye gives oak wood a weather-beaten patina, so that it resembles in its appearance real driftwood. The wood's surface gets a beautiful, two-dimensional design. Additionally, the product prevents that the wood becomes yellow.

The Driftwood Lye is available in the pot size 2.5 liters and in the colors white and grey.

How to do...

1. Wear glasses and safety gloves during application. The surface should be polished right before the application of the product. Use therefor paper with a grit between 100 and 120. The wood's surface has to be dry an clean when you apply the lye.

2. Shake the Container well and fill the whole lye in a plastic tray. Don't leave any pigments in the container. Stir the lye regularly during the application.

3. Apply the product along he wood grain in an even coat. Use a paint roller or a lye-resistant brush for application. Use at least 1 l lye for each 10 m² wood space. Vertical flats should be handled from the top to the bottom.

4. Leave the wood drying for approx. 24 hours at a temperature of 20°C. When the surface is completely dry, use a polishing machine to polish it evenly. Subsequently, remove the dust with a vacuum cleaner and apply an appropriate wood oil on the wood's surface.

Do not breathe in. Avoid eye and skin contact. Do not expose to excessive heat.
